This page explains how OfficesChair.com chooses the products in its guides, what our recommendations are based on, and what they are not based on.

What our picks are based on

  • Manufacturer specifications. Seat height range, seat depth, lumbar type (fixed, height-adjustable, or height and depth), armrest adjustment, recline and tilt lock, weight rating, materials and dimensions.
  • Warranty and certification. Warranty length and coverage, and whether a chair lists BIFMA or similar durability certification.
  • Owner feedback. We read low and middle ratings as well as high ones, looking for recurring problems such as sinking gas cylinders, flattening foam, sagging mesh or wobbling bases.
  • Fit for the stated need. A chair for tall users must reach the right seat height and depth; a chair for back pain needs adjustable lumbar support. Products that don’t meet the need a guide is about are left out, even if they are popular.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t claim to have tested products we haven’t used. When a writer has used a product, the article says so.
  • We don’t accept payment for inclusion or ranking.
  • We don’t publish health claims. Chair guides can explain adjustments that support a neutral posture, but they aren’t medical advice. If you have persistent pain, talk to a clinician.

Prices and availability

Prices and stock change often. We group products by price tier rather than quoting exact prices, and we recommend checking the current listing before you buy.

Updates

We review guides when products are discontinued, replaced or changed, and when readers report problems. Updated guides show the date of the last review.
